Who is a candidate for dental implants?

Dental implants are the best treatment options for replacing missing teeth. Dental implants can be done for all ages except growing children. There are very few contraindications for dental implants. Even for the following health concerns ,dental implants can be done :

Existing Medical Conditions
As long as you are fit for routine dental treatment, dental implants can be placed in your mouth. Even patients with chronic diseases such as high blood pressure and diabetes, dental implants can be done successfully provided the chronic disease is under control.

Gum diseases
Even with advance gum diseases ,dental implants can be placed successfully. In fact in patients with bad gums, extracting the teeth and replacing them with dental implants may be the best option.

Badly broken down tooth
If a tooth is badly broken down and non vital , instead of multiple visits of root canal treatment and crowning, a dental implant may be a simpler and cost effective method of tooth replacement.

Smokers
On the whole , smokers have a slightly lower success rate compared to non smokers , modern dental implant system can be done successfully even in heavy smokers

Bone loss
Bone loss is common for people who have loss their teeth for a long time . With improvement in bone grafting techniques and materials, lack of bone is no longer a contraindication for dental implants.
