With the advent of cone beam ct scan , we are now able to evaluate the jaw bone in 3 dimension with a high degree of accuracy. In selected cases , it is now possible for the patient to have the dental implants and replacement teeth installed at the same time.

Female patient 46 , lost all her lower teeth due to gum disease. 7 dental implants were installed in the lower jaw and an immediate provisional implant bridge was screwed into place. The patient was able to leave the clinic with a set of immediate implant teeth . The teeth in an hour procedure minimizes disruption to the lifestyle of the patient and also improves comfort and function.

Three months later , a new impression was taken and a 14- unit porcelain bonded to metal implant bridge was fabricated and screwed onto the 7 implants on the lower jaw.

Am I a suitable candidate for teeth in an hour procedure ?
Not every patient is a suitable candidate for teeth in an hour procedure . A cone beam CT 3 dimensional analysis of bone quantity and quality must first be done. Teeth in an hour is only indicated for patients with good bone .
Can I have teeth in an hour procedure even though I have lost all my upper teeth?
So far, long term studies have shown that immediate implant and immediate loading of implants is more suitable for the lower jaw. The upper jaw has inferior bone quality and quantity.
Can I have my permanent implant bridge straight away instead of provisional implant bridge ?
Long term studies have shown that staged implant procedures produces better results. Hence in our clinic , the final implant bridge is fabricated when the dental implants are fully osseintergrated in to the jaw bone. With stage implant procedure , the final implant bridge has a superior fit and aesthetic . Moreover future implant complications is drastically reduced.
If I need bone grafting for dental implants ,can I have teeth in an hour ?
Generally if there is lot of bone grafting required, conventional implant procedure is more appropriate. In such cases, teeth in an hour is not advisable.
