How long does the dental implant process take?
For conventional dental implant treatment ,the whole process may take from 3 months -9 months. Time is required for your jaw bone to grow around the dental implant and for it to fuse to the bone. For patients with good jaw bone ,the osseointergration will take 3 months. In patients that requires bone grafting , the process of osseointergration may take between 6 – 9 months
The dental implant treatment procedures for dental implants is as follows:
Dental Implant Surgery Stage 1
The dental specialist makes a small incision and place the dental implants into the jaw bone. If the bone is of good quality and the dental implants exhibits high initial stability, the healing abutments are connected to the dental implants at this stage . 3 months later ,the replacement teeth can be made.
Dental Implant Surgery Stage 2
In patients with soft bone or where there is bone grafting, the dental implants are left fully covered with gums. 3-9 months later , the dental specialist will make small incision to exposed the dental implants and to connect the healing abutments. After a healing period of 3-4 weeks the final restorations can be fabricated. |
