Cosmetic Dentistry and Dental Implants

We are in the era of beautiful teeth and beautiful people. The demand for smile makeovers with porcelain veneers and all porcelain crowns is increasing and so are patients’ expectations
A: Black hole effect due to loss of gum papillae
B: Metal showing

A badly executed implant crown with metal showing and black hole effect due to gum loss will certainly dash a person ‘s dream of a winning smile.
A: Gum Papillae Regeneration

The requirements of doing a dental implant in a patient with adjacent cosmetic veneers and crowns becomes more stringent. For aesthetic implant crowns, the following factors are important.

1. Adequate bone and gum tissues
2. Exact positioning of implant during surgery
is important. A slight malposition of the
dental implant during surgery will result in a     poor aesthetic outcome.
3. Proper shape and contour of the implant
crown is also important so that it looks like a
    natural teeth.
4. Exacting surgical and prosthetic technique
will also help to regenerate gum papillae to
   minimise the black hole effect
